Hello / 你好
I'm Dr Juan Du, a bilingual therapist in the UK, dedicated to supporting individuals during challenging times. Some people arrive here mid-crisis, navigating through a difficult period — whether it’s a relationship ending, experiencing loss, or suffering from anxiety and depression. Others may feel curious, uncertain if they truly need therapy. Regardless of your reason for being here, all are welcome.
As a Counselling Psychologist, Psychotherapist, and Mindfulness Teacher, I have trained in the UK and also work as an Expert Witness Psychologist, offering psychological assessments and reports for legal settings. However, beyond my qualifications, I feel immense privilege in being able to sit with people during their moments of loss, fear, and crisis. I aim to help them discover their own truths and support them on their unique journey.
Having grown up in China and spent most of my adult life in the UK, I bring a diverse background to my practice. I have expertise in experimental psychology and contemporary psychotherapy, along with training in Chinese medicine acupuncture. This allows me to hold the complexity of mental health problems a meaningful way. I believe in working collaboratively with you to see the whole picture and take a holistic, integrative approach to care.
Apart from therapy, I also conduct ADHD assessments and provide psychological reports for those in need within legal contexts.
If you're uncertain whether now is the right time for you or if I am the right person to support you, that’s perfectly understandable. An initial consultation can be a simple way to explore this further.
Thank you for reading and for being here. I look forward to connecting with you.
Peace, love, and life,
Juan

My Philosophy
I believe in a personalised approach to therapy, recognising that there is no 'one size fits all' solution. As a Chinese-speaking psychologist in the UK, I adopt an integrative and culturally sensitive stance, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches to address your unique challenges, develop a tailored plan to achieve your goals, and foster meaningful change in your life.
My approach incorporates:
By combining these diverse practices, I aim to provide a well-rounded and effective therapy experience. I look forward to working with you to create positive and lasting changes in your life.

I must note, however, that you won't find client testimonials on this site because I adhere to the ethical codes of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and consider using client testimonials to be unethical.

I've lived, studied, and worked across different countries, and that experience has shaped how I practise. Culture isn't a footnote to psychology for me — it's often at the heart of how people experience distress, and how they heal. I'm genuinely curious about the different ways people understand themselves, their families, and their emotional lives, and I bring that curiosity into every room I sit in.
Your therapeutic journey is deeply personal, shaped by where you've come from as much as where you're going, and I'm committed to tailoring my approach to meet you where you are — not fitting you into a single framework.
I offer sessions in both English and Mandarin, making my practice accessible to Chinese-speaking clients across the UK. For more information about sessions in Chinese, please visit the dedicated Chinese page.
Commitment to Learning
I believe we all have blind spots in our understanding, and I take that seriously. My therapeutic techniques are continually sharpened through regular supervision, ongoing professional development, and staying current with research — so my practice stays effective, relevant, and genuinely responsive to the people I work with, wherever they've come from.
