I offer a warm and secure space in comfortable surroundings where your concerns, feelings and thoughts can be brought, listened to and explored in depth to help you find what you need. I work collaboratively with you so that together we can find a way to help you understand yourself and develop increased well-being, healing and resilience.
I work collaboratively, and I hope we can work things out together. Therapy works best if you can commit to weekly sessions, so it's important to try and attend your sessions each week to ensure you get the most out of our time together.
Each session lasts 50 minutes
Please note that:
What happens in the first session?
Our first session is a chance for us to understand whether this is right for you and whether we could work together. You can bring any concerns or questions you have. There is no obligation to continue after the first session. An initial treatment plan is also included in the first session so we can explore tailored therapy to your needs and how to move forward.
What happens after the assessment?
If you would like to work together, we would typically meet weekly at the same time. Based on your situation, we can work out an initial agreement on limited sessions or keep it open-ended.
I currently offer online appointments via Zoom/Skype/FaceTime etc.
I am fully trained and qualified to provide online therapy.
1. Before engaging in online therapy, please ensure that your internet connection is good enough and fast enough to sustain a Zoom /Skype call; otherwise, we will use a telephone call.
2. Once the session is arranged, they will not be used to see other clients. Sessions that are cancelled with less than one week's notice are chargeable in full unless there are extenuating circumstances.
3. Ensure you are in a quiet, confidential room where you can't be overheard.
4. The online therapy fee is payable by bank transfer 24 hours before the session.
Everything you tell me is confidential… but there are exceptions. For example, if you make it clear to me that you are actually planning to take your own life and you are taking action towards that end, then if I can not persuade you not to do that, I will call your doctor.
Also, if I do see you in the street or at social events, I will not say “hello” unless you do first, and this is not because I am being rude. It's simply to allow confidentiality for you.
What if there are problems?
If you feel that things are not working for you in therapy, then it is important that we can discuss and explore this in therapy. These difficult conversations are like the grit around which a pearl is created. I work within the ethical guidelines of the UKCP, and if you feel I may have breached any of those ethics, they will handle any complaint for you.
I abide by the UKCP guidelines to help clients achieve improved mental health and wellbeing goals.
